Mount Nemrut is a mountain with a height of 2,150 meters in the vicinity of Ankar mountains near Kahta district in Adıyaman province. Taurus is located in the mountain range.

It is within the borders of Adıyaman province in Southeast Anatolia Region. It was declared in 1988. The surface area is 13,827 hectares. The source value of the national park is the archaeological remains found in this area, known as “Commagene larda in ancient times. Antiochos tumulus and the giant statues here are cultural values ​​of Eskikale, Yenikale, Karakus Tepe and Cendere Bridge national park. On the east and west terraces, there are antiochus and god-goddess statues, as well as lion and eagle statues. There is a unique lion horoscope on the west terrace. The sculptures were carved by blending the Hellenistic, Persian art and the original art of the Commagene country. In this sense, Mount Nemrut can be called “the bridge of western and eastern civilization”.

Antiochus Theos, the king of Commagene, built the statue of many Greek and Persian gods on top of this mountain in 62 BC as well as his own tomb-temple. In the grave, like the head of an eagle, there are stone carvings of the gods. The arrangement of the statues is known as hierotheating.

Mount Nemrut is a volcano to the west of Lake Van in Eastern Anatolia. The elevation is 2935 m.
