Hasankeyf, which was ruled by the Ayyubid rulers of the Ottoman administration until 1524, has been ruled by the Ottoman administrators since this date. The city lost its importance as a result of the change in the main trade routes since the 17th century and the pause in trade as a result of the Ottoman-Iranian wars. After 1867, the settlement was connected to Mardin Midyat and in 1926 it was connected to the town of Realüş. When Batman became a province in 1990, the district was connected to this city.
