Anatolian Civilizations Museum is located in Altındağ, Ankara. It is a museum that exhibits the archaeological artifacts of Anatolia and is one of the few museums in the world. In the district of Atpazarı, on the southeastern shore of the outer wall of the Ankara Fortress, it is located in two Ottoman buildings, which were arranged with the new function. One of these structures is Mahmut Paşa Bedesteni, which was built by Veli Mahmud Pasha and the other one was Kurşunlu Han, built by Rum Mehmet Pasha.

The museum, where only the Hittite period artifacts were exhibited at the beginning, was enriched with works from other civilizations and became a Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Today, this museum, which is one of the few museums of the world with its own collections, exhibits Anatolian archeology from the Paleolithic Age until today. The European Museum of the Year Award, awarded by the European Museum Forum of the Council of Europe, was awarded the first prize among the 68 museums in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1997. Winning this award is the first museum in Turkey. The map of Çatalhöyük, which dates back to 6200 BC, is the oldest known map of the world.
