Galata Bridge is a bridge that connects Eminönü and Karaköy, built on the Golden Horn in Istanbul.


The first bridge connecting the Golden Horn and known as the "Galata Bridge" was built in 1845.


Second bridge
This bridge was built on the orders of Sultan Abdulaziz (1861-1876), III. It was built by Ethem Pertev Pasha just before Napoleon's visit to Istanbul and replaced in 1863.


Third bridge
In 1872 the bridge to the British company G. Wells was completed in 1875.


Fourth bridge
German company MAN AG built in 1912 with 350,000 gold liras


Fifth Galata Bridge
Construction was completed and opened in December 1994.
It is a scale bridge that can open 490 m long and 80 m wide.
It is one of the rare scaffold bridges that trams over the world.
