          Ethnography Museum of Ankara located in the district of Altındağ in Ankara. In the War of Independence, it was founded in the place of the old name Namazgâh Tepesi where Friday prayers were made. Previously it was thought to be used as Archeology Museum and then it was decided to be the Museum of Painting and Sculpture.

 

Architectural

          The building was built by Arif Hikmet Koyunoglu, one of the most important architects of the Republican era. The building contractor is Nafiz Bey. The building is rectangular and has a single dome. The stone walls of the building were covered with mold. The part of the pediment is marble and decorated with carving. A 28-step staircase leads to the building. When you enter the door, you go to the dome six hall and from here to the columned section called inner courtyard. A marble pool was built in the middle of the roof and the roof was left open. Later, when this inner courtyard was separated as a temporary grave for Ataturk, the pool was transferred to the garden and its roof was closed. There are symmetrically small halls around the inner courtyard. The administrative part is adjacent to the museum and has two floors. The bronze statue of Atatürk on a horse in front of the museum in 1927 by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education was built by the Italian artist Pietro Canonica.

 

Exhibited at the Museum

         The Ethnography Museum is a museum where the Turkish art is exhibited from the Seljuk period to the present. Collected from various parts of Anatolia, folk clothing, ornaments, shoes, samples of clogs, women and men's socks in the Sivas region, various pouches, seals, circles, pegs, pegs, bedspreads, bridal attire, groom shaving sets representatives are.

There are carpet and rug collections belonging to Uşak, Gördes, Bergama, Kula, Milas, Ladik, Karaman, Niğde, Kırşehir regions.

Fine examples of Anatolian mineral arts are the XV. Mamluk boilers, Ottoman sherbet boilers, jug basins, sini, coffee trays, pitchers, stones, candle scissors etc. There are various mine works.

Ottoman Empire springs, arrows, flintlock pistols, rifles, swords, yachts and on atlas fabric processed on the Sultan II. An Ottoman coat of arms with a tomb of Mahmud is exhibited in the museum.

Turkish china porcelain and Kütahya porcelain, Sufism and tarikat related articles, there are beautiful examples of Turkish writing art.

One of the most beautiful examples of Turkish woodworking, Seljuk Sultan III. The throne of Keyhüsrev (13th century), Ahi Şerafettin Sandukası (14th century), Nevşehir Mausoleum of Taşhur Pasha Mosque (Damsa Village) of Urgup (12th century), Grand Mosque of Siirt (12th century) Merzifon Çelebi Sultan Medrese Gate (12th century) 15th century) is an important work of our museum.

VII. Besim Atalay, a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, presents a collection of Turkish art history from various periods.

In the museum there is a specialized library which includes works especially on Anatolian ethnography and folklore and art history.
