Pain (Old name: Karaköse), cities in Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. There have also been more than one name change in history. Karakilise was named after Ararat, Karaköse and finally Ağrı Mountain.

History

During the Ottoman period, urbanization in this region began in 1860 by the name of Karakilisa (Black Church) of the Armenian trade groups of Bitlis, led by the bishop of Pakrevand (Üçkilise). The city name was changed to "Karaköse" after the National Struggle after the urbanization started by establishing 10-15 shops in one property. In 1946, its name was Ağrı. For these reasons Armenia claims rights in the region.
