Rize Castle is located in the southwest of the city center. There are two parts as Inner Castle and Lower Castle. As a result of the dense settlement, the Lower Castle was destroyed. Some city walls and towers have survived to the west. Although the exact date of the castle is not known, it is known that the inner castle was rebuilt during the Justinian period (527-565).
