Information About Basilica Cistern

The Basilica Cistern is the largest covered cistern in Istanbul. Hagia Sophia is entered from the small building on the west side of the building. In the view of the colonnade, the ceiling of the room is brick-woven, cross-toned. At the time, it was known by this name because of a nearby basilica.

At present, one of the subsidiaries of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Kültür A.Ş. Yerebatan Cistern, which is operated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is home to many national and international events besides being a museum.
